The Hegar-Olsen needle holder is similar in appearance and design to a clamp, but is specifically designed to guide a needle in order to place a clean surgical suture. Needle holders according to Hegar are basically known for their long, narrow design, which allows them to be opened and closed well and nimbly, even in the depth of the body. You can choose the Olsen-Hegar needle holder with or without TC inserts in the jaws, which hold the needle particularly firmly. Due to the coarse-grained surface of the carbide insert, needles do not slip, do not turn and are easy to guide. You can tell it is a needle holder with tungsten carbide insert by the gold eyeglass handle.

The needle holder is equipped with a secure spectacle handle, extended hinge and a lock. In addition to a waffle pattern in the jaw, the surgical instrument has a barrel forceps shape. In addition, the instruments are straight and therefore easy to guide. The handles of the needle holder are long and narrow, and the hinge is designed to be stretched through. The instrument is equipped with a catch with detents at the end of the handles. Due to the narrow shape according to Hegar, the needle holder is not only easy to use in the depth of the surgical field, but is also a safe, easy-to-use surgical instrument when the body is relatively narrowly open. Without restricting the field of vision, the Olsen-Hegar needle holder thus ensures safe guidance of the needle.

The plus point of this needle holder is certainly the scissors part behind the holding jaws, so that the instrument does not have to be changed for cutting sutures.
