VICRYL (Polyglactin 910) suture material from Ethicon
Ethicon VICRYL suture material is a braided, synthetic fibre made of polyglactin 910. The resorbable polyfilament is particularly suitable for soft tissue adaptation, peripheral nerve sutures and microsurgery. The violet filament is coated and characterised by a low tissue reaction. The half-life is approx. 3 weeks and resorption takes approx. 2 months. Ethicon needles are dimensionally stable and resistant to bending. The attachment of the suture material to the needle is carefully crafted, in order to improve tissue passage.

Optimised packaging
The Ethicon suture is placed on a winding carrier to ensure easy removal of the needle-suture combination. Due to the predetermined shape, the RELAY tray packaging helps to reduce suture memory. The thread material returns quickly to its original shape after removal and has no kinks. The One-Step RELAY zipper design also allows direct access to the needle without a pull tab, saving time in the operating theatre.
All suture packaging elements, from the box to the RELAY tray, are printed with clear labelling and an optical colour code. The standardised identification of each suture material helps to minimise errors and enables easy ordering and efficient stock management. The packaging materials, such as plastic winding carriers, films and paperboard outer packaging, are recyclable. Great importance is attached to environmental compatibility both in product design and in the manufacturing of Ethicon articles.
