          Professional blood sampling with the blood collection system

          First of all: what is a blood test?

          At its most basic level, blood sampling is simple: you insert a needle into the patient's arm or hand and draw blood. However, there are several factors that can complicate matters and increase the risk of drawing blood samples incorrectly. Fasting blood is often recommended for medical checkups to avoid false positive results. Fasting does not interfere with the interpretation of the results.

          Blood samples may be taken for a variety of reasons. Blood tests are very common in clinics, hospitals and doctors' offices around the world. Doctors routinely use blood samples to determine if something is wrong and what treatment to prescribe. A blood draw is indicative of the state of the patient's immune system.

          Stopper tubes for blood analysis

          For the collection and processing of blood samples, you will need a stopper tube. Basically, there are two different types of systems, which take samples either by aspiration (e.g. Monovettes) or by depressurization (e.g. Vacutainer).

          The S-Monovettes from Sarstedt are a particularly popular blood sampling system, which integrates both sampling techniques. Depending on the desired form of analysis and the relevant parameters, the S-Monovettes for blood sampling are prepared with different additives for slowing down the coagulation of blood. In addition, the tubes are color-coded to prevent mishandling.

          Because the shape of the sedimentation cannulas resembles that of a butterfly, these blood collection systems are also called "Butterfly". The folded wings are used for a safe and precise puncture. The puncture is virtually painless for the patient thanks to the particularly small puncture site.
