When every second counts. The AED 3 is a fully automatic external defibrillator for treating sudden cardiac death in adults and children. Its audio and text instructions guide every first responder safely through reanimation. Special features of the AED 3 fully automatic device

With the AED 3 you are getting an AED that is prepared for every emergency situation: It has a status display that allows you to determine whether the device has passed the last self-test and is therefore ready for use. The device runs these self-tests every day or every 7 days depending on the setting. Once a month, it also runs a self-test at full energy of 200 J. During the self-test, the AED checks the following 3 functions:

          • Capacity
          • Status and expiry date of the battery
          • Connection and expiry date of electrodes
          • ECG and charging/discharging electronics
          • Microprocessor hardware and software
          • CPR electronics
          • Pads sensor
          • Audio electronics

The AED 3 has 2 operating modes: Firstly, there is the AED management mode with which all configuration settings can be changed using the symbols on the touchscreen. Additionally, clinical archives, device history data, and configuration data can be uploaded via this mode. The other mode is the rescue mode which shows graphics on the screen that, together with audio prompts, guide the first responder through the steps of reanimation.

Another special feature of AED 3 is the child mode which employs energy settings configured for children. This mode can be activated by either using the ZOLL HLW-Uni-padz defibrillator electrodes and pressing the child button, or by directly using suitable child electrodes like Pedi-padz II.

Real CPR Help ensures that the AED 3 can offer information about the correctness of frequency and compression depth. Via a sensor on the HLW-Uni-padz, this data can be measured and evaluated. Depending on the measured depth of the cardiac massage, the AED plays audio prompts: Is the massage depth e. g. under 5 cm, it plays the prompt “Push harder”. If the minimum depth is then adhered to or reached, it plays “Good compressions”.
