AED 3 semi-automatic defibrillator from Zoll

Your helping hand in the hour of need. The AED 3 is a semi-automatic external defibrillator for treating sudden cardiac death in adults and children. Its audio and text instructions guide every first responder safely through the reanimation of a patient. Thanks to its Real CPR Help technology, the user gets feedback in real time about whether everything is done correctly while an integrated metronome helps keep up the rhythm. When the device is ready to shock, it will prompt the user to press the shock button. Therefore, the AED 3 semi-automatic system is the right companion in emergency situations.

Highly functional AED for saving lives

With the AED 3 you are getting a semi-automatic AED that is prepared for every emergency situation: Its status display shows whether the device has passed the last self-test and is therefore ready for use. The AED 3 runs these self-tests every day or every 7 days depending on the setting. Once a month, it also runs a self-test at full energy of 200 J. During the self-test, the AED checks the following 3 functions:

          • Capacity
          • Status and expiry date of the battery
          • Connection and expiry date of electrodes
          • ECG and charging/discharging electronics
          • Microprocessor hardware and software
          • CPR electronics
          • Pads sensor
          • Audio electronics

The two operating modes of AED 3 offer the possibility of making different settings. The AED management mode, with which all configuration settings can be changed using the symbols on the touchscreen, also allows the user to upload clinical archives, device history data, and configuration data. The other mode is the rescue mode which shows graphics on the screen that, together with audio prompts, guide the first responder through the steps of reanimation. The audio prompts also inform the user about when the device is ready for defibrillation and when the shock button can be pressed.

Another special feature of AED 3 is the child mode which employs energy settings configured for children. This mode can be activated by either using the ZOLL HLW-Uni-padz defibrillator electrodes and pressing the child button, or by directly using suitable child electrodes like Pedi-padz II.

Real CPR Help technology: Via a sensor on the HLW-Uni-padz, frequency and compression depth can be measured and evaluated. This data is transmitted to the AED which can then give feedback about the correctness of frequency and compression depth. Depending on the measured depth of the cardiac massage, the AED plays audio prompts: Is the massage depth e. g. under 5 cm, it plays the prompt “Push harder”. If the minimum depth is then adhered to or reached, it plays “Good compressions”.
