To "revive" Birdie, simply open the windows for a short time to let in fresh air, and it will return to its upright position. Designer air quality indicator

The design concept of the Birdie 2.0 Fresh Air Monitor uses storytelling and gamification to raise awareness of poor air quality. Indoor air often becomes "stale" without being noticed. Carbon dioxide (CO₂) is a global standard for measuring indoor air quality, with the Pettenkofer value (1,000 ppm or 0.1% CO₂) serving as a threshold for rooms. Elevated CO₂ levels can also indicate an increased risk of infection through aerosols. Poor air quality impacts concentration and increases the risk of headaches and sleep disturbances.

The sensor covers a room size of up to 100 m², and at least one Birdie should be installed per floor or enclosed room. Birdie 2.0 signals CO₂ concentrations above 1,000 ppm (parts per million) by hanging upside down. This is the perfect time for ventilation to maintain a healthy indoor climate. To keep the canary "alive," a few minutes of airing often suffice. At around 800 ppm, the bird returns to its upright position. The simple design is intuitive and encourages everyone to participate. The small bird operates without lights, sound, or digital displays, making it unobtrusive in work or sleeping spaces.
