The Siemens Clinitest Rapid COVID-19 Antigen Self-Test detects an acute COVID-19 infection quickly and reliably within 15 minutes at the point of care. Unlike other covid tests, an anterior nasal swab is also possible, besides the nasopharyngeal swab.

Detection of the new covid variants (including Omicron): Detailed information on the detection of SARS-CoV-2 variants, including Omicron, can be found in the report on SARS-CoV-2 mutations as well as on the report on the detection of the Omicron variant.

Using the Clinitest Rapid COVID-19 Antigen Self-Test

Collect the nasal swab sample with the enclosed cotton swab. Prepare the work station by placing the extraction tube upright and adding about 10 drops of buffer solution into it. Then dip the cotton swab with the extracted specimen into the filled tube. Turn the swab at least 6 times and let it rest for one minute. Then squeeze the tube to wet the cotton swab completely. After that, it can be removed. Put 4 drops of the solution into the sample well of the test cassette. Now wait 15 minutes and then read the test result off.

This test is approved according to §11, paragraph 1 of the German Medical Devices Act (MPG) for self-administration by laypersons (self-test).
