FlexiOH Immobilizer Orthese – Short Arm by OrthoHeal
The OrthoHeal FlexiOH Immobilizer orthosis is made of an innovative, light-curing mesh material. The cast is easy to put on, quickly closed with the zipper and hardens in a few minutes with the help of the RizyCure blue light lamp (sold separately) specially designed for FlexiOH – the result is a circular stabilization of the wrist. The resulting stable plastic mesh not only provides reliable support, but is also 100% waterproof and provides 46% exposed skin area. Unlike conventional casts and plasters, FlexiOH can easily be used while washing, showering and even swimming. Itchy, hard-to-reach areas are also a thing of the (plaster) past. The immobilization technology of FlexiOH is thus an air-permeable and waterproof alternative to classic plaster casts.

The new generation of orthopedic immobilization
For uncomplicated care of fractures and sports injuries of the limbs, FlexiOH technology offers more than just reliable immobilization. As a contemporary alternative to plaster and cast bandages, the flexible and slightly stretchable plastic material fits snugly around the arm and can be easily closed thanks to the integrated zipper. UV light is used to harden the outer layer of the cast. With the optionally available RizyCure LED light unit from OrthoHeal, this takes place within a few minutes. Thanks to the integrated zipper, the splint can be easily opened again after the treatment period and removed quickly and painlessly.

The sizes of the FlexiOH orthosis differ in palm, wrist and arm circumference. After measuring the arm , the appropriate splint can be selected.

Schien enmarterial lässt sich gut anlegen und ist durch die weiche Qualität gut formbar. Gut finde ich auch die spezielle Polsterung für den Daumen. Dort können sonst schnell unsichtbare Druckstellen entstehen. Die Anbringung muss man üben, aber wenn der Patient mitspielt, ist dies ohne Probleme möglich. Durch den Reißverschluss ist die Schiene gegenüber Gipsschienen schnell u gut entfernbar. Patienten waren nach anfänglicher Skepsis positiv überrascht. Man sollte nur die Randbereiche (Hand u. Unterarm) beobachten falls an dort noch a Polstern müsste-eher aber abhängig von der Agilität des Patienten. Das Schienenmaterial kann man empfehlen.

Zunächst möchte ich mich der Meinung des Vorredners anschliessen, der Testzeitraum ist sehr kurz. Immerhin erfordern geeignete Indikationsstellungen oft mehrere Wochen Ruhigstellung und somit kann sich die Bewertung des Tragekomforts durch die Patienten durchaus für 1 Woche oder 5 Wochen stark unterscheiden. Die Anpassung an den Armumfang habe ich als recht unkompliziert empfunden inkl. Lichtgerät. 2x hatte ich das Problem einer Inkongruenz zwischen Unterarmumfang und Länge des Arms. Auch eine XL Größe zu Testzwecken wäre hilfreich gewesen.
