ESR tube from Sarstedt
The ESR tube, also called sedivette, enables blood to be taken using both the vacuum technique and the aspiration principle. The collection principle can be freely selected depending on the condition of the veins during blood sedimentation. In the procedure, 2.8 ml of blood is inserted into the Sarstedt ESR tubes, pre-filled with 0.7 ml citrate. The citrated blood is then carefully and gently mixed; this process is supported by the glass beads inside the tube. For the final ESR measurement, a suitable ESR stand can be used and the zero point of each sample marked with the red knurled screws. After a waiting time of one hour, the ESR value can be read off, which corresponds to the mm value according to the Westergren method.
