Information on Accessibility
This accessibility statement applies to the website www.doccheckshop.de as well as to the respective country-specific DocCheck Shop websites.
1. Provider
The online shop is operated by DocCheck Shop GmbH, Vogelsanger Str. 66, 50823 Cologne.
2. Descriptions and explanations required to understand the execution of the service
We operate an online shop with a focus on medical and practice supplies, which enables the purchase of goods via the internet.
Our portfolio is primarily focused on products for healthcare professionals (HCPs): physicians, institutions, public authorities, and companies within the healthcare sector. At the same time, we welcome every user who visits and uses our shop.
The DocCheck Shop is internationally oriented and serves users in the DACH region, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and English-speaking foreign countries.
The ordering process, from product selection to payment, is fully digital. In addition, we provide information on products, prices, contractual terms, delivery conditions, and payment options. Access to the shop is possible via web browsers on desktop computers and via mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets.
3. Description of statutory requirements
The statutory requirements result from the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG - Accessibility Reinforcement Act) as well as the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsverordnung (BFSGV - Accessibility Reinforcement Ordinance). The technical requirements are based on the European standard EN 301 549 as well as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
4. How we meet accessibility requirements
Our online shop fulfills numerous accessibility requirements and is based on legal requirements as well as international standards (in particular WCAG).
Perceptibility
For product-related images in the online shop, there are texts that describe the product in text form as an alternative to the image. Text elements are readable with screen readers. We largely refrain from content likely to cause health impairments; in particular, no fast fades, flashing or blinking animations, or comparable visual effects are used.
Operability
Explanations are provided for input errors. A visible focus indicator is used. Navigation is structured consistently across all pages. Breadcrumbs and "skip-to-content" links are available. Structure and navigation are clearly designed. Keyboard navigation is guaranteed for all essential functions of the online shop. There is no "keyboard trap," and the focus order is logical. Forms can be operated via keyboard. Users are given sufficient time for inputs.
Understandability
The page structure is logical and easy to follow. Link texts are fully formulated or meaningfully labeled (not just: "Click here"). A heading hierarchy (H1, H2, H3) is recognizable and used consistently.
Technical Implementation
The online shop is compatible with all standard browsers. The shop features responsive design for all screen sizes. The shop utilizes an HTML structure with semantic elements. The page language is correctly specified in the HTML.
Scalability and Readability
The font size is at least 16px. The font size can be further increased using the browser. Regarding the texts, it is ensured up to a scaling of 200% that information and functions are not lost.
5. How we do not meet accessibility requirements
Non-accessible content
The following content and functions of our website do not currently fully comply with the requirements of the Accessibility Reinforcement Act (BFSG). We are continuously working on identifying and removing existing barriers.
Perceptibility
The website partially lacks sufficient color contrasts. This is partly due to the requirements of our Corporate Identity—which is also protected by trademark law—whose color design does not meet accessibility contrast requirements in all cases.
Additional styling elements (e.g., icons, patterns, underlines) are not used to reliably convey information visually when color alone is insufficient.
Audio descriptions are currently missing for visually relevant content, making some information inaccessible to blind users.
Understandability
Not all text content is available in clear, simple language. This particularly affects technically necessary medical content. For questions regarding this content, we offer supportive explanations via customer service.
Limitations on the Homepage
Some elements of our homepage, such as color-coded content, banners, teaser areas, carousel elements, and image-based content, do not currently fully meet accessibility requirements.
A full accessible implementation of this content currently involves disproportionate effort. This results particularly from the necessary adjustments to existing design and development processes and the associated significant technical, creative, and organizational effort.
Against this background, full accessible implementation in this area currently represents a disproportionate burden within the meaning of § 17 BFSG.
We continuously check to what extent individual elements of the homepage can be implemented accessibly in the future and already consider accessibility requirements when developing new content.
The mentioned limitations only affect individual content on the homepage. All essential shop functions, especially search, product displays, shopping cart, and checkout, are largely accessible.
