B. Braun Solofix Safety: the safest way to use lancets

B. Braun Solofix Safety blood lancets were developed for various types of blood sampling. They can be used systematically, as each type of puncture is assigned a specific color. This system supports faster and smoother clinical workflows, as the appropriate lancet can be identified at a glance. B. Braun Solofix Safety blood lancets feature a break-resistant polypropylene (PP) housing that protects against accidental needlestick injuries and cuts.

Understanding the color coding of B. Braun Solofix Safety blood lancets

To ensure that the correct blood lancet is immediately at hand, the B. Braun Solofix housings are available in three different colors:

• Blue blood lancet
  The blue lancet is particularly fine. It features a 25G triple-bevel needle designed to treat the puncture site as gently as possible. The puncture depth of the blue single-use lancet is 1.5 mm. It allows the collection of a small blood volume and is therefore particularly suitable for blood glucose measurement.
• Red blood lancet
  The red blood lancet is a universal lancet. The needle gauge is 21G with a triple-bevel tip. The puncture depth of this safety lancet is 1.8 mm. As it produces a moderate blood flow, this standard lancet is suitable for general blood diagnostics.
• Yellow blood lancet
  Yellow safety blood lancets were specially developed for neonatal use. They feature a blade with a width of 0.8 mm and achieve a puncture depth of 2 mm. This results in a high blood flow. The neonatal lancet is particularly suitable for heel punctures in newborns and neonatal screening, as well as for finger punctures in calloused skin.
