The möLab mö-screen Streptococcus B Test is a rapid and reliable immunochromatographic test for the diagnosis of Streptococcus group B infections. The rapid test provides a qualitative result within only 5 minutes with a sensitivity of 95.2 % and a specificity of 97.9 %. Thus, it is particularly reliable and provides bacteriologically-medically appropriate cut-offs, which facilitates the targeted use of antibiotics.

Streptococcus B Test - Fast and accurate diagnosis of infections
Group B Streptococcus (GBS) or Streptococcus agalactiae is a common cause of serious infections in newborns. For example, the infections can cause wound infections, sepsis, meningitis, and urinary tract infe ctions. About 5-30% of all pregnant women are carriers of GBS. Because treating GBS carriers during delivery can reduce the incidence of GBS sepsis, screening for GBS is critical. Therefore, routine testing for GBS between 35 and 37 weeks of gestation is recommended by the US-Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) While conventional culture methods require 24-48 hours to provide a result, which may be too late for effective treatment, the möLab mö-screen Strep B rapid test provides the ideal solution for qualitative detection of GBS antigens from women's cervical swabs in as little as 5 minutes.
