The cover slips for microscopy are made of borosilicate glass and are therefore very strong and documentation-safe. The glasses are very well suited for fluorescence microscopy. Ultraviolet radiation at wavelengths longer than about 320 nm causes virtually no fluorescence in these coverslips. Mercury lines also give no intrinsic fluorescence at wavelengths of 334 and 365 nm.
