Orient Gene's HCV Hepatitis C Virus Test provides rapid and accurate qualitative detection of HCV-specific antibodies in serum or plasma. HCV infection is caused by the hepatitis C virus and, in most cases, progresses to a chronic form, which carries a high risk of cirrhosis or liver cancer. The test is a qualitative membrane-based immunoassay that uses recombinant HCV antigen to detect antibodies to HCV in serum or plasma. The rapid test provides test results within 10 minutes with a sensitivity of 99.1% and a specificity of 99.6%.

Qualitative immunoassay: easy test performance of the Hepatitis C rapid test

The test procedure of the HCV Hepatitis C Virus Test from Orient Gene is particularly quick and easy. The serum or plasma sample is brought into contact with the recombinant HCV antigen on the membrane of the rapid test cassette, which is conjugated with colloid gold. The mixture migrates chromatographically through the membrane by capillary action and produces a colored line in the presence of antibodies to HCV. The presence of the colored lineindicatesa positive result, while its absence indicates a negative result. A colored line in the control area ensures procedural control.
